For this reason I think Japanese military tactics are vulgar, dangerous, trying to be intimidating unlike US military policies. There is no nation in the world that behave like Japanese military especially also given her WWI & WWII atrocities. Japanese military seems to use their Imperial Japan war playbook which is very uncivilize by modern standards.

As you can see Japanese F15 jets will not have the combat range and will not fly there to intimidate Chinese civilian ships or planes. Remember all these are civilian ships and planes from China. If Japan react with military jets or navy destroyers then of course danger of war increases immeasurably.
The whole idea is to defang Japan's air wing first. The Japanese Coast Guard ships sailing from Kyushu may do some surveillance but will be much less dangerous than the F15 jets from Japan
Remember also the sample Yaeyama Islands are still a few hundred miles to Diaoyu/Senkaku Islands, too small to do the Distance Calculator, but you get the idea the distance is more than 700 miles combat radius from Kyushu, so Japanese jets cannot fly there unless they do refueling. Of course it cost a whole lot more money to fly longer distance and this will be factored in by Japanese military before she decide to send off the jets to escort or shoot at Chinese plane.
